Geneva, Alabama High School baseball team in 1926 or 1927. Joe Wallace is at top center.

Joe Wallace in the service, about 1945. Joe served at the front in North Africa and Italy; he was hit by scrap metal that killed the two young men next to him. Joe relayed the story of meeting Morris Cohen, cousin Helda's husband by accident in Italy; he also said he went to a Jewish wedding in Italy. But the story about writing a letter to the Mars candy company telling them how much he loved and missed their candy got him a case of candy bars. That story was quintessential Joe, who never lost that child quantity throughout his life.
